EF South Congress

For a large scale, bright and airy office space in the South Congress district, the client wished to capture the mood of the Southwest in the lobby entrance. Earthen elements such as terracotta pots and a variety of cacti were used to evoke this spirit while playing to the industrial nature of the building through the use of CMU cinder blocks. The design of this plant scape was inspired by the Cactus Store in Echo Park California. Elsewhere in the office, large open spaces were filled with tall palms and full leafy tropicals to soften concrete columns and to frame inviting sitting areas. Industrial galvanized steel troughs were used as planters for larger plantings to act as a privacy screen for meeting rooms; smaller planters were used to divide gathering spaces in the social parts of the building.
